Tasked with creating an animated data visualization, I looked at the COVID-19 pandemic–comparing the death rate with the infection rate. Taking data from the New York Times, I created two different data sets: percent of maximum death rate and percent of maximum infection rate. Blender's procedural nodes were then used to animate this data with a dynamic color gradient to visualize when COVID-19 deaths were peaking versus when the COVID-19 infection rate was the highest.By comparing these dynamic percentages and using color to encode their severity, the animation revealed when COVID-19 became most deadly and contagious,.
