During my time at OverUnder, I worked on a team to develop a wayfinding system for Newport Mansion’s The Breakers property–formerly a mansion of the Vanderbilts. The previous system was a piece-meal collection of signs that were created as needed. Our client asked us to develop a cohesive system that would help guide visitors through the extensive property grounds.
The final system has five different sign types of various scales, responding to the information they need to communicate. The bronze finish blends into the environment, allowing the architecture to shine, while the gold references the “gilded” age of the Vanderbilts.
